Just pushed out a little update to HB-Cumulus. This update is purely for the Habari SVN compatible version of the plugin as all it does is add support for blocks. With the pending release of Habari 0.7, I don't envisage there will be any more updates to the 0.6 compatible version of the plugin.

For years I've been running Firefox from my home directory with a symlink in ${HOME}/.mozilla/plugins pointing to for /usr/java/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so the Java plugin. Whilst this has worked, it's been no where near the pain free experience that using the Java plugin on Windows and Mac OS X is. Until now. The other day I discovered that my Java plugin was no longer working and Firefox wasn't showing it in the about:plugins list either. Wow!!! This is pretty impressive. In about two hours, the guys in the Habari community whipped up a functioning Mozilla Account Manager plugin for Habari so users can now take advantage of the Mozilla Account Manager extension to login/logout of their Habari sites from anywhere on their site (no need to locate the login button/form). I believe Habari may have pipped Wordpress to releasing such a plugin too.

I've just released the next revision of HB-Cumulus - rev 1.5. This release now takes full advantage of the new tags functionality in the latest Habari SVN code and also now uses SWFObject 2.2 for the embedding in "non-compatibility" (ie the default) mode. All the other changes are minor and include things like better HTML validation, formatting of the code itself and an update to the tagcloud flash file itself. Just a quick update to say that Habari introduced some good changes to tags in r3829 of the SVN code. Unfortunately, these changes break the HB-Cumulus plugin, just the SVN release. I hope to release a new rev of this plugin later this week that takes these changes into account.

I've slowly been improving my main site since migrating to Habari and so far so good, however one thing I didn't like prevailed - SPAM!! This isn't anything Habari specific - I had loads of spam when using Wordpress - however on Wordpress I used Akismet so didn't really see it. I also soon gave up checking my spam queue in Wordpress as Akismet seemed to be doing a good job. With the move to Habari, I lost, or more precisely gave up Akismet and very quickly started seeing the spam I'd forgotten about. Time to fix that. Continue reading ►

I've just managed to successfully compile and install the microblog-purple Pidgin plugin on OpenSolaris (so I can use Twitter and Identi.ca from Pidgin). Sadly, the installation wasn't the prettiest of things, but the important part is the new protocol library files compiled successfully and work a treat. Well, folks, it's taken a long time but I can now finally and proudly announce that my SmugMug Media Silo plugin for Habari is now available for download. The SmugMug Media Silo plugin implements a Habari media silo to access your SmugMug photos making it easy to insert images into posts and pages. Thanks to some good feedback and testing by the chaps in the Habari community, I've pushed out a small minor update to my HB Audio Player plugin which fixes some misbehaviour seen when your theme doesn't use a style.css file in the theme's base directory. From now on, HB Audio Player will only show a "Theme Colours" selection tool if it's managed to successfully locate a style.css file in your theme's base directory and it's found some colours in this file. There's no major changes, only a bit of code tidying and I've now also made released a version that is compatible with Habari SVN (which will become 0.7 one day) which uses a new plugin architecture.
