It's taken me a little over a year to put all my soldiers in a row and finally migrate my personal blog from Wordpress to Habari.This long delay really had nothing to do with Habari or Wordpress, but rather my pedantic desires, constantly changing ideas and the need for me to come up with my own Habari equivalents of Wordpress specific plugins. Well, after running with ALL options in the wp_options table set to no for autoload for about 3 days, I can say it doesn't really make much difference. If anything, there may be a slight decrease in performance, but nothing broke that I could see, and there really wasn't a significant difference in memory usage either.  Continue reading ►

Well, in a bid to see if Wordpress really needs to preload all those options set to autoload, and to see if it makes a difference on the memory consumption I detailed earlier. I've set them all to "no" on this site so nothing is autoloaded. If you encounter any problems, please let me know. If I don't hear anything, I can only assume they don't have any adverse effect.

I was a little slow on the uptake, but Wordpress 2.5 was officially released to the world yesterday. I've now upgraded all my blogs (lildude.co.uk and colinseymour.co.uk) to WP 2.5. Now to put the finishing touches my SmugGal plugin and I may just had a workable pluggin for everyone within a few weeks.

lildude.co.uk is now running on Wordpress 2.5 RC2. Hopefully this will iron out some of the niggles I encountered with RC1. If you're tempted to upgrade, check out the screencast showing some of the cool new features.
