- Oracle hires former HP's Hurd, Phillips leaves | Reuters - HP last month, Oracle today. The Register predicted something like this would happen when Ellison stepped forward to defend Hurd. Time will tell how Hurd's arrival impacts Oracle's hardware ambitions.

- Oracle Outlines Next Major Release of Oracle Solaris - Oracle Solaris 11 and Solaris 11 Express press release to whet your appetite of what's to come. The first public release of Solaris 11 Express should be available later this year and I can say the internal builds are already starting to look like what I'd imagine Solaris 11 will look like.
- LibreOffice - A fresh page for OpenOffice - The H Open Source: News and Features - This is a good and balanced article that is worth reading. It'll be interesting to see what Oracle decide to do, especially as they seem to be concentrating on their own JavaFX based cloud Office suite.
- HP gooses Integrity server virt with PA-RISC emulation • The Register - Why would you want to emulate dead hardware on dead hardware? Not sure I understand the logic behind this one short of trying to make a quick buck which won't work in these times.
